Medieval Italian Bellows Face Sallet 1.3mm
Are you looking for a versatile, BATTLE-READY, FULLY FUNCTIONAL helmet for your next combat? Directly inspired by a renaissance original from the Wallace Collection (London), recently re-dated circa 1500, our bellows face sallet proves to be a convenient helmet offering an interesting combination of excellent visibility and good protection. This style of sallet is much longer than the classic German or Italian medieval sallet and was thus offering substantial protection to the neck and allowing the rider to use it without bevor if he wanted to. Historically, we thought that it was used by light and medium cavalry that needed a more convenient helmet than the heavy armet worn by the knights. Crusader Knight Helmet Helmet - 1,6mm
An invincible knightly sword stays firmly held in your mail-clad fist, and your banner floats in the wind while your squire buckles your sturdy 13th Century Crusader Knight helm for battle. The punched face plate makes ventilation easy while fighting your foe and protects you from arrows raining on you and your fellow knights, awaiting the order to charge! Directly inspired by an original seal from the British Museum, we have taken the liberty to slightly modify its ventilation holes to make it the perfect crusader helm! In the 12th century, knights realized the need for face protection because of the couched lance technique. The nasal helmet exposed the face, risking instant death of the knight from lance strikes above the shield. Adding a faceplate offered extra front protection and was effective against mounted opponents and archers. (Later on, more plates were added to cover the back of the neck and fully enclose the head: the pot helm/great helm was born. But that's different story.) It is HANDMADE from sturdy 16 (1,6mm) gauge MILD STEEL. The leather liner absorbs shock, offers comfort, and aligns the eyes with the eye slit. An approximate circumference of 68 cm makes it ideal for all head sizes from 58 to 61cm Note: This product is carefully coated with a layer of oil when packaged that acts as a temporary (protective) layer against corrosion (rust), which can easily be wiped off using any oil remover or even a dry cloth.
